2. Parent Portal and registration

Q:  Why must a MEEP! be registered?

A: This is to ensure parents can set up the MEEP! with as much restriction or allowance as they desire for their child. The MEEP! must be registered by an adult in order for the child to gain online access. Once the OTA process is complete and the MEEP! is at least at version 1.1 (you can check by clicking help on the right scroll wheel and the version number and serial number will be listed), you will then be able to register the MEEP! on the parental portal.


Q: How do I register the MEEP! on the parent portal?

A: To register the MEEP! you must use either Google Chrome or Apple Safari as it is coded in HTML 5. Go to portal.meeptablet.com and click on "Create an account". Enter in all the information and once complete you will have access to parental controls for the MEEP!.


Q: Can I change later the information provided during the registration including the email?

A: As of today this is not possible, please make sure information entered are correct. We are working on an upgrade so that you can update afterward the information you provided.


Q Why do you require Google Chrome or Apple Safari to register the MEEP! and use the parental portal?

A: Our parental portal is designed in html 5 so as to give you the most optimized browsing experience. Both Google Chrome and Apple Safari are HTML 5 capable browsers. It is not the case for all versions of Explorer and Firefox. Some of the older versions of Safari can also be problematic, please make sure you have the latest one. We are working on opening more options so that you can use other type of browsers in the future.


Q: Why is a credit card required to register the MEEP!?

A:  We require a one dollar charge to a credit card in order to maintain COPPA (Child online protection act) compliance which ensures that an adult is registering the MEEP!. This is a one-time charge and the one dollar is converted to 100 MEEP! coins which are then available for the MEEP! store.  We do not maintain the credit card information which is strictly used only as a way to confirm that the MEEP! is being registered by the parent or an adult.


Q: My credit card isn’t accepted, what can I do?

A: Some specific credit cards are not supported, if this happen you can contact our customer support at 1300 300 155. They will help you to solve this


Q: Why must I set up a Gmail account?  Why should it be separate from my own Gmail account?

A:  A Gmail account is necessary in order to access Google Play content.  We highly recommend that you set up a new Gmail account for your child as opposed to using your own Gmail account.  If you use your own Gmail account to set up Google play then your Gmail messages will flow into the MEEP! if Gmail being set up in the MEEP!. Therefore it's best to set up a Gmail account for your child.


Q: Can you explain the parental controls in greater details?

A: MEEP! parental controls will allow you to set up as much restriction or allowance as you desire for your child.

Q: What is the bad words list?  What is blacklisting and white listing?

A:  We maintain a bad words list and you can add to that bad words list as well. This precludes your child from using bad words that you feel are inappropriate in chat or in search.
